duty, this morning wilmington is coming to grips to the death of two firefighters, two more are fighting to survive critical injuries. we will have a live update from the hospital. under arrest, police capture the man they say opened fire at a washington state shopping mall killing five people, now investigators are trying to put the pieces together to figure out the motive for the shooting. let's take a live look outside at lincoln financial field. the forecast has a fall-like feel that will make it perfect football weather for today's eagles match up against the steelers. good morning, welcome back to nbc 10 news today. thanks for being with us, i'm rosemary connors, it's 6:00 on this sunday. you may need a sweatshirt or light jacket if you're heading out to the game.

meteorologist krystal klei has the details on the cooler weather. krystal. >> after dealing with 90s so much recently it's going to feel cool this afternoon. in fact, this morning it was a little chilly out there. we are looking right now at still those dark skies but it's also a dry sky, we are not tracking any rain. what we are looking at currently is just those temperatures. 55 degrees outside. if you go areas like the lehigh valley, some of the suburbs we are looking at 40s on portions of the map. so it is definitely a chill to start your day. now, temperaturewise what we're looking at for the next several days is going to be those cooler temperatures, more seasonal. we saw 89 friday and yesterday as expected the big drop. we hit 73 as the high temperature saturday and that was actually the early a.m. hours we only peaked at 72 degrees. today afternoon temperatures peaking at 72 degrees and

tuesday that turing in the 70s. we are now looking at after that cold front a cooler air mass holding over our area. today sunshine will be holding over the area as well. a wider view shows us there are no clouds, no rain heading our direction, at least not yet. now, as we move forward you can see the bottom of your screen those rolling seven day forecasts we do have the potential for rain and that chance of showers it picks up in the overnight into your tuesday we are going to take a look more closely at that with your future model coming up in a few minutes. a city in mourning, wilmington is remembering two firefighters who lost their lives trying to save people in a burning row home this weekend. lieutenant christopher leach spent 14 years with the wilmington fire department and senior firefighter jerry if i cans was a 13 year veteran.

this morning two more remain in the hospital in critical condition. monique braxton is live at crozer-chester medical center in delaware county where the injured firefighters are being treated. monique. >> reporter: it is all quiet here at the hospital as you can see over my shoulder, a much different scene than yesterday evening. the firefighters who passed away are being hailed adds heroes this morning. grief grips the city of wilmington. a bugle plays, flags are at half-staff, bunting symbolizing the sadness felt in wilmington. we were at a local high school when mourners prayed and held theirself close. many grew up with or worked with the two firefighters who perished, chris leach and jerry if i cans. vice president joe biden visited the fire scene as did delaware senator chris coombs.

five people at a shopping mall is under arrest. police captured 20-year-old arcan cetin 24 hours after they say he gunned down four women and a man inside a department store. take a look, this is a surveillance manual of the suspect, authorities say he opened fire at a macy's cosmetics counter in washington on friday night. the mall is an hour's drive from seattle. a police lieutenant from a town that's not too far from the mall describes how he and his partner captured the suspect. >> i saw an individual walking northbound on the sidewalk and i instantly recognized that that is the person i just viewed on my computer. i did an abrupt u-turn, hit my lights, pulled my gun, myself and a reserve deputy took the individual into custody. >> authorities list cetin as a legal u.s. resident who immigrated from turkey. police say he does have a criminal record that includes domestic violence, assault charges, a motive for the deadly

gunfire is not clear yet. according to the fbi there is no indication it was a terrorist act, but local police say they are not ruling anything out. you are looking at a fifth straight night of protests in charlotte, north carolina, just hours after police released their video of the deadly shooting of a black man by a black officer. this now is that police video that i just mentioned. you can see that it showed portions of the shooting. protesters demanded that police release this video after the officer shot and killed keith scott last tuesday. officers are also sharing details from the investigation, holster and a gun they say was recovered from the scene. according to investigators lab results indicate that scott's fingerprints and dna were on the weapon, but the police chief

says the new video doesn't answer all of the questions. >> there is no definitive visual evidence that he had a gun in his hand. you can see something in the hand. and that he pointed it at an officer. >> we are left with far more questions than we have answers. >> scott's family says that they are thankful police released the new information but they question why deadly force was used. the state of north carolina is now conducting a separate investigation in this case. in tulsa hundreds of mourners packed a church this weekend to remember an unarmed black man who was shot and killed by a white police officer. family and friends came together yesterday to remember 40-year-old terence crutcher. as you can see this dash cam and chopper radio released by the police in tulsa shows crutcher with his hands in the air, he was shot while standing next to his suv that broke down in the middle of the road. officer betty jo shelby is charged with manslaughter. police in baltimore are looking for three gunmen this

morning after a group of eight people was shot last night, one of the victims is a three-year-old girl. all are expected to survive. the police commissioner says the shooting happened outside some row homes when the three men moved in on the group from different points. the commissioner called the violence retaliation for a shooting in the same neighborhood. eight minutes past 6:00. still ahead, cuba deal on the heels of the u.s. warming up relations with cuba china is beefing up its investment in that country. plus runners and walkers get ready to pound the pavement to fight childhood cancer, a preview of this race coming up next.

trading partner after venezuela. trade between cuba and china last year reached $1.6 billion. back in the u.s. in new orleans yesterday dozens of protesters tried to take down the statue of president andrew jackson. police officers showed up and did not allow the demonstrators to get near the statue. group leaders say they are hoping the protest helps hasten the removal of four confederate monuments in the city. wall street will be among those keeping an eye on the presidential debate tomorrow night. susan lee takes a look at what's ahead this week in business news. >> candidates debate, nightly reports and movie memorabilia hits the auction block all in the week ahead. markets will be watching monday night's presidential debates for the candidates' latest economic plans and any movement in the polls afterwards. cruise line giants carve val starts off the week with earnings reports when it releases ruts on monday morning. other big names include nike on tuesday and pepsico on thursday.

come. take a look at this, buffalo were roaming the streets of one north carolina town this weekend. all because of the weather. three buffalo were spotted on a residential street in windsor, north carolina. when a nearby river spilled its bank after heavy rain workers at the local zoo released the animals for their own safety because of the flooding. get ready to say good-bye to this pop up park at penn's landing, this is the last day for the spruce street harbor park, it's the last day to enjoy it until next year. the annual fall fun fest by the bay continues in margate, runs from 11:00 until 5:00 this afternoon. there you can enjoy music, food, boat rides and crafts for the kids. irish eyes will continue to be smiling at the 25th annual irish fall festival in north wildwood, the largest irish festival on

police in washington state arrest a suspect whom they say opened fire at a shopping mall killing five people. how he was taken down and what we're learning about him straight ahead. protesters were back on the streets in charlotte, this as police release some of the dash and body cam videos of their deadly confrontation with an african-american man earlier this week. good morning, welcome back to nbc 10 news today. i'm rosemary connors, it's 6:30 on this sunday. the sun is coming up, looking like a great day ahead but just a little cool out there. meteorologist krystal klei has more on our first alert neighborhood forecast. >> yeah, rosemary you're exactly right. the forecast for today is looking very good. temperature wise similar to yesterday except for the morning because this morning it is a cool start. temperatures are certainly lower outside now than they were just 24 hours ago. we will get to that map in a

second. as we move forward today we are looking at 70s and sunny. yesterday in the afternoon the clouds started to break and that's where we moved into, those lower 70s across the map. similar today as well into tonight. yet again the fall chill, those cooler temperatures we have been seeing do continue. there is a look at your temperatures as they currently sit, 45 allentown, 55 philadelphia, we are at 49 right now clm and atlantic city and 47 mt. holly. some of us now certainly into the 40s. look at that comparison to 24 hours ago. we are looking at the temperature change quite considerable out there. looks like our map doesn't want to, but i can tell you that the temperature change is about a 20 degree difference from yesterday morning around this time in some areas. so what we are looking at is that you might want that light jacket as you step out the door moving through this morning, even this afternoon dressing for the more fall-like weather. here is a look at your radar and satellite, not tracking a thing but we may start to track storms

crozer-chester, monique braxton, nbc 10 news. you can follow this fire investigation. also right now on the nbc 10 app you can learn more about the tier who lost their lives. let's head now to washington state. the man wanted for shooting and killing five people at a mall there is now under arrest. police captured 20-year-old arcan cetin one day after they say he gunned down four women and a man in a department store. take a look. this is a surveillance image of the suspect near the macy's cosmetics counter a at that mall in washington on friday night. according to investigators the motive for the gun fire is unclear. the fbi says there is no indication it was a terrorist act, but police say they are not ruling anything out. coming up in our next half hour you will hear more about the suspect and how law enforcement caught him.

a fifth night of protests in charlotte, north carolina, just hours after police released their video of the deadly shooting of a black man by a black officer. the shooting has touched off demonstrations all week long. nbc's sara rosario has the latest from charlotte. >> reporter: chanting in unison, hundreds unite again on the streets of charlotte protesting the shooting death of keith scott. now different videos, one from keith scott's wife. >> don't shoot him. >> reporter: and the latest from charlotte police are fueling their fight and raising questions, was the shooting justified. >> that is the most important question that has to be answered. >> in the spirit of transparency you're going to get everything that we can deliver. >> reporter: police chief kerr putney admits it's the not the entire video but portions relevant to the case including pictures of marijuana, a holster

and gun that investigators say was loaded despite scott's family saying he didn't have a weapon. >> drop the gun. >> he doesn't have a gun. he has a tbi. he is not going to do anything to you guys. >> we are left with far more questions than we have answers. >> reporter: and both parties agree it's too hard to tell in either video even though police say lab tests show scott's fingerprints on the gun and you can hear officers drop the gun as scott gets out of the car and seen backing away, soon after shots are fired. >> if laws were violated i would >> reporter: chief putney says the fatal fire came from only one officer and says no one will face charges. he says all involved reacted appropriately. this as the state conducts its own investigation which scott's family hopes will prove his innocence. >> he was an american citizen who deserved better. >> reporter: and for protesters

no difference as we move into the afternoon. 72 galloway township into atlantic city at 72 as well. over to delaware, wilmington, not much change here, right, 72 wilmington, dover at 71 and rehoboth beach 71 degrees. already in the low 60s this morning. not going to be a lot of change as we move forward. it's been a pretty dry september, we saw rain on the 1st and the 19th, all the yellows you see in between dry days, no measurable rain in philadelphia, we do have chances of rain on the board twice before the end of the month, that will be coming up on tuesday and friday. i will expand on that potential especially for your tuesday across neighborhoods. we will look at that and more on temperatures as we move into your next workweek all coming up. hey, the eagles could go to 3-0 for just the seventh time since 1960 if they can beat the steelers. it's a big match up with a pair of two big quarterback, we will hear from carson wentz and big ben, that is next in sports.
